Purdue University currently uses Luminis Message Broker to ferry information between Banner and the Blackboard 8 Vista Learning Management System. The university has recently implemented Blackboard's latest LMS, Blackboard Learn 9, and is maintaining production environments of both systems while migrating faculty from Vista to Learn. Purdue is using eLearning Integration to facilitate the exchange of data between Learn and Banner. This creates an interesting challenge of maintaining two LMS connections to one student information system . . . and conversely one SIS to two LMS. This session will review integration of Blackboard Vista 8 and Luminis Message Broker, outline Purdue's implementation of eLearning with Blackboard 9, and dive into the technical details and challenges of maintaining parallel LMS communications with Banner.
