Description
Student success and retention is critical for institutional success. Muskegon Community College (MCC) implemented SunGard Higher Education's Course Signals product in August of 2011 as part of MCC's Early Intervention Student Success Initiatives. Course Signals ties into the learning management system and helps to identify students who are underperforming in a course and provide faculty with the tools and resources to communicate with those students and help them succeed. The initial group included a faculty cohort that was soon named the Fab Five. The Fab Five piloted the product in eleven sections reaching over 277 students. Initial results indicate that the majority of participating students are more engaged, receiving effective communication from their instructors, and would recommend Course Signals in their other classes.
