Using Strategic Planning to Create Business Intelligence In-roads (1732)
We believe in the concept, but need to see how it would address our issues, is a common statement made before investing in Business Intelligence (BI). When asked what needs to be addressed, a common response is better information. This is not a helpful answer. Showing strategy trees are not helpful to a campus that struggles to easily get admission letters out.
This presentation discusses how the State University of New York has engaged campuses in Strategic Planning for Information Access as the first step in justifying the need for a comprehensive BI program. These engagements enabled campuses to articulate how BI would specifically address issues institution-wide; often with unexpected outcomes.
For those who are looking for justifications of BI, well review how some of the most common findings supported the establishment of BI programs. Some time will be left for those of you who have been successful in gaining institutional buy-in for your program to share what has worked on your campus with the group.
