Learn how Lehigh University provides over 400 end users on campus with desktop access to Banner financial data and reports using a Microsoft Access database. Since Lehigh has a Microsoft site license for the Office suite which includes Access, we determined this to be a very cost effective way to develop a uniform set of reports and provide easy access for campus users to run them as needed. The database is linked to a copy of our Banner production database that is updated every night (using Oracle tools) so the data is as current as the night before. The reporting database was created before the availability of ODS/EDW and uses baseline tables and views and a few custom views, but required no modifications to Banner Finance and uses basic fund org security maintained on FOMPROF. The presentation will include a demo of the actual database and the extensive menu of reports available to end users that have been developed since we went live with Banner Finance in July 2001, and how other schools can replicate this reporting database at their institutions.
