Digging Deeper into Bloom's Taxonomy: Mining Complexity
Track : Curriculum Studies
Program Code: 300
Date: Friday, November 12, 2010
Time: 11:55 AM to 12:40 PM  EST
Room: Atlanta Ballroom B
PRESENTER :
Richard Cash, Director, Gifted Education, Bloomington Public Schools
Description
Benjamin Bloom's quintessential Taxonomy of Educational Objectives (1956) set the standard for designing hierarchic learning goals to advance student thinking and learning. Since Bloom's Taxonomy is appropriate for moving ALL students to higher levels, how do educators of the gifted adjust the taxonomy to the academic needs of gifted/talented students? This session will introduce deeper levels of each of the cognitive domains of the taxonomy, and define complex activities that can challenge gifted/talented learners. Participants will be provided a ready-to-use matrix for digging deeper into Bloom's Taxonomy, as well as assessment ideas, that can be used in most content areas.
