Description
An estimated 15% of students being homeschooled across the nation are African American. While the general public is aware of homeschooling among the majority population, little is known about this educational option being used by the black community. This session will discuss the recent trend and share the results of an initial survey of Black parents who homeschool their children. Among the children are those who have either formally been identified as gifted or those whose parents believe they demonstrate gifted characteristics. Reason why parents homeschool, their personal disappointments and successes with educating their gifted children will be
