Description
How do we identify gifted students who are most at risk for underachievement? How do we measure factors related to their underachievement? What self-report measures can we use to determine the efficacy of interventions designed to remediate underachievement? In this session, we review the challenges inherent in identifying underachievers and measuring underachievement. We also present two instruments, the School Attitude Assessment Instrument- Revised (SAAS-R) and the Challenges to Scholastic Achievement Scale (CSAS). Both instruments have been developed to measure factors related to underachievement in middle and high school aged students.
