Description
Come learn about and experience the cutting edge of technology designed for use by young children. In this engaging and interactive Session we will demonstrate a range of innovative emergent technologies and help you experience the variety of ways they can support your students' learning. Collaborative-tools, Web-based applications, hand-held devices, and student-empowering computing; these new technologies are transforming the way people of all ages are learning and communicating. Come be inspired to explore these tools, learn how to get started, and how they can enable amazing new opportunities for your students. Presenters will introduce an inspirational array of tools. For each technology we will discuss the purpose for which it was designed, and how it is generally used, followed by more detailed information about applications in early childhood settings. References to research will provide a context for discussing its appropriate use. Specific examples will be provided based on experiences from the presenters' work with young children and teachers, and from discussions of the NAEYC Technology & Young Children Interest Forum group. To promote learning that will extend post-conference, extensive Web-based resources will be provided to participants that relate to digital learning and tools. Not all tools are appropriate for all children; we invite you to come benefit from our insights as teachers, authors, presenters, and researchers. We will bring these tools with us and invite you to come play and learn.
