Description
Participants in this workshop will receive a brief but thorough overview of learning through play. They will revisit the classic works of Piaget and Vygotsky and review the work of contemporary researchers including Paley, Elkind, and Almon in regard to play's importance in the early childhood setting to promote children's learning and development. In addition, participants will consider the place of play within Developmentally Appropriate Practice. Finally, presenters and participants together will discuss multiple ways to provide parents with more information about learning through play and the importance place of play within children's lives. This workshop is appropriate for both early educators new to the field and other professionals focused on parents' understanding of learning through play.
