Kate Farthing is a preceptor and clinical pharmacy specialist with system responsibilities for quality and patient safety at Legacy Health, a six hospital system in the Portland, OR metropolitan area. Prior to joining Legacy in June 2010, she spent 16 years at Oregon Health and Sciences University Hospitals and Clinics in drug information/drug policy with resident and student teaching and training responsibilities, including residency program director for the PGY1 program a PGY2 drug information specialty residency program. Kate is active in state and national organizations, including serving as a member of the ASHP Commission on Credentialing and has participated in the ASHP Public Relations Action Network for many years.

Kris earned her pharmacy degree from the University of Washington and then completed a General Hospital Residency at OHSU in Portland, Oregon. She worked as a staff pharmacist and preceptor at OHSU for 15 years before shifting her focus to full time teaching as an Assistant Professor at Pacific University Oregon. While at OHSU she served as their Residency Program Director for 10 years. She remains passionate about post-graduate training and her scholarship interests include teaching methods and preceptor development.
