Jason Corcoran,
PharmD, BCPS, Clinical Specialist, Cardiac Intensive Care,
Children's National Medical Center
Jason Corcoran is the clinical specialist for the Cardiac ICU at Children's National Medical Center. He also provides pharmacy oversight to the Children's National Heart Institute. A 2001 graduate of Virginia Commonwealth University, he completed a PGY1 residency and a PGY2 residency in Pediatrics at The Johns Hopkins Hospital. He has been involved in designing standard concentrations and programming infusion pumps at several pediatric hospitals, and he has an interest in using technology to improve patient safety. He co-authored a nursing book on Pediatric High-Alert Medications and has been a peer-reviewer for other nursing and pharmacy publications.

Elizabeth Farrington,

Elizabeth Farrington, Pharm.D., FCCP, FCCM, FPPAG, BCPS, is a Pharmacist III in Pediatrics at the Betty H. Cameron Womens and Childrens Hospital at the New Hanover Regional Medical Center in Wilmington, North Carolina and is a Clinical Associate Professor at the University of North Carolina (UNC) Eshelman School of Pharmacy. Prior to moving to Wilmington, Dr. Farrington spent 17 years as the PICU clinical specialist at the UNC Childrens Hospital. Dr. Farrington earned her B.S. in Pharmacy at the University of North Carolina (1983) and her Pharm.D. from the University of Kentucky (1985). Dr. Farrington completed a two-year (1 year in pediatrics) Clinical Pharmacy Residency at the University of Kentucky, A. B. Chandler Medical Center (1988) and a Pediatric Research Fellowship at the University of Iowa (1989). Prior to her move Dr. Farrington directed a PGY2 Pediatric Pharmacotherapy Residency. She has trained fifteen pediatric residents. Dr Farrington is an active member of the American College of Clinical pharmacy (ACCP), the American Society of Health System Pharmacy (ASHP), the Pediatric Pharmacy Advocacy Group (PPAG) and the Society of Critical Care Medicine (SCCM). Dr. Farrington currently serves as a member of the Board of Regents for the American College of Clinical Pharmacy.

Kimberly Novak,
PharmD, BCPS, Clinical Pharmacy Specialist-Pulmonary Medicine,
Nationwide Children's Hospital
Dr. Novak is currently the Clinical Pharmacy Specialist for Pulmonary Medicine at Nationwide Children's Hospital in Columbus, Ohio. As an affiliate of The Ohio State University, Nationwide Childrens Hospital serves as both a pediatric and adult Cystic Fibrosis center for over 450 patients. Dr. Novak holds clinical appointments at The Ohio State University, Ohio Northern University, and West Virginia University colleges of pharmacy and is the residency director for the PGY2 Pediatric Pharmacy Residency at Nationwide Childrens Hospital. She is a graduate of West Virginia University School of Pharmacy and completed a PGY1 Pharmacy Practice Residency at the University of Kentucky Medical Center as well as a PGY2 Pediatric Pharmacy Residency at Kentucky Childrens Hospital.

LEARNER OUTCOMES:
- Describe the causes of traumatic brain injury (TBI) based on the age of the patient and how this changes empiric testing or medication management.
- Describe the pathophysiology and treatment of pediatric heart failure and how it differs from adult heart failure.
- Evaluate the current literature regarding the efficacy and safety of VX-770 (KalydecoTM) in combination with VX-809 a new agent-in-development, for the treatment of cystic fibrosis.
- Explain the current guidelines for infants and children with cystic fibrosis.
- Review the new SCCM pediatric TBI guideline and application of key changes to the treatment of the pediatric patient.
