Kim Benner,
PharmD, BCPS, Professor of Pharmacy Practice,
Samford University McWhorter School of Pharmacy
Kim Benner, PharmD, BCPS, FASHP is a Professor at the Samford University McWhorter School of Pharmacy and a Pediatric Clinical Specialist at Childrens of Alabama in Birmingham. Dr. Benner graduated with her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from Samford University and completed an ASHP-accredited residency at Childrens Hospital in Birmingham. She joined the MSOP faculty shortly thereafter and has maintained a busy practice in the pediatric ICU at Childrens. Research interests and areas of publication include pediatrics, infectious diseases, pharmacy and simulation education. Dr. Benner is active in many professional organizations such as the Alabama Society of Health-System Pharmacists where she was Council Director, then President and currently serves as co-chair of the Student Affairs committee and Alabama delegate. The American Society of Health-Systems Pharmacists (ASHP) activities include past chair/member of the Council of Therapeutics, Clinical Skills competition judge/coordinator and Educational Steering Committee of the Section of Clinical Specialists and Scientists. At Samford University she is the faculty advisor for the Student Society of Health-System Pharmacists (SSHP). Other professional organization involvement includes the Pediatric Pharmacy Advocacy Group (PPAG), Society of Critical Care Medicine and the Alabama Pharmacy Association.

Lea Eiland,
PharmD, BCPS, Associate Clinical Professor and Associate Department Head,
Auburn University Harrison School of Pharmacy
Dr. Eiland is an Associate Clinical Professor and Associate Department Head of Pharmacy Practice with Auburn University Harrison School of Pharmacy and a Clinical Assistant Professor of Pediatrics with the University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Medicine, Huntsville Regional Medical Campus. Dr. Eiland graduated with her Doctor of Pharmacy from The University of Texas at Austin and The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio and completed a pediatric specialty residency at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center at Amarillo. Dr. Eiland joined the Auburn faculty in August of 2002. She practiced for 10 years at Huntsville Hospital Women and Children in the general pediatric inpatient setting. In 2012, she started practicing in the UAB Health Center Huntsville Pediatric Clinic. Her interests include infectious disease and neurology.
Dr. Eiland is active in several national pharmacy organizations including the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP), Pediatric Pharmacy Advocacy Group (PPAG), American College of Clinical Pharmacy, and American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy. Dr. Eiland is a Past President of the Alabama Society of Health-System Pharmacists, past Chair of the ASHP Council on Education and Workforce Development, former Board of Director member of PPAG and past Director-at-Large and current Chair for the ASHP Section of Clinical Specialists and Scientists Executive Committee.

Donard Huynh,
PharmD, MA, Assistant Professor,
University of Maryland
Dr. Donna Huynh graduated from the University of Maryland School of Pharmacy. She completed a pharmacy practice residency at Children's National Medical Center and a two year fellowship in Instructional Design and Evaluation at the University of Maryland School of Pharmacy. She joined faculty at the School of Pharmacy in 2008 and practiced at the University of Maryland Medical Center in general pediatrics.

- Identify three new guidelines relative to the care of pediatric patients.
- Recommend pharmacotherapy for provided pediatric patient cases in relation to pneumonia, urinary tract infections and prevention of cardiovascular disease.
- Summarize the new recommendations from these guidelines as related to pediatric pharmaceutical care.
