Karen Berger,
PharmD, BCPS, Neurocritical Care Clinical Pharmacist,
New York Presbyterian Hospital
Dr. Karen Berger is currently a neurocritical care clinical pharmacist at New York Presbyterian Hospital, Weill Cornell Medical Center and an Affiliate Assistant Clinical Professor at St. John's University. She received her doctor of pharmacy with highest honors from the University of Florida in 2009. She completed her post-graduate year-1 pharmacy residency at Yale-New Haven Hospital in 2010 and went on to pursue specialty training in critical care. She completed her post-graduate year-2 critical care residency at the University of Illinois Medical Center at Chicago in 2011, where she acted as chief resident. Dr. Berger is an active member of the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists, American College of Clinical Pharmacists, and Society of Critical Care Medicine and participates on various committees within these organizations. Her research interests include infectious disease in the critically ill, ICU sedation and delirium, and pharmacologic management of shivering associated with therapeutic hypothermia. Dr. Berger is a board certified pharmacotherapy specialist and serves as a preceptor to pharmacy students as well as PGY-1 and critical care PGY-2 residents in the neurosciences intensive care unit.

Eric Wombwell, PharmD, BCPS, is a Clinical Assistant Professor for the Department of Pharmacy Practice and Administration at the University of Missouri - Kansas City, School of Pharmacy. Dr. Wombwell completed his PharmD at the University of Missouri Kansas City, followed by an ASHP accredited pharmacy practice residency. He has been a Board Certified Pharmacotherapy Specialist since 2009 and currently practices as a clinical pharmacy specialist at Centerpoint Medical Center in Independence, Missouri emphasizing in antimicrobial stewardship. In addition to co-coordinating the courses of Pharmacotherapy II and Zoonotic Illnesses, Dr. Wombwell also provides didactic lectures within the infectious disease and hematology/oncology spectrum of the curriculum. He serves as co-advisor for the UMKC chapter of Phi Lambda Sigma and President of the UMKC School of Pharmacy Alumni Board. Dr. Wombwell is very active in service to the profession holding leadership positions and committee appointments within the Missouri Society of Health-System Pharmacists, American Society of Health-System Pharmacists, and American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy. His professional interests include leadership development, emerging and reemerging pathogens from zoonotic sources and educational technology, particularly as it relates to pharmacy education.
