Caryn Belisle,
RPh, Pharmacy Manager Sterile Products and Robotic Services,
Brigham and Women's Hospital
Caryn Domenici Belisle is the pharmacy manager of Sterile Products and Robotics at Brigham and Womens Hospital, Boston MA and has been in this position for the past 6 years. She has been with the institution since 1999 and has been on the forefront of the advancement in healthcare technology to enhance patient safety.
Her professional interests are USP <797>, pharmacy operations, robotics and process improvement using lean concepts. She has successfully implemented the use of the Cytocare robot as well as the use of the i.v. Station and i.v. Soft robotic and workflow assist programs. She represents the department on various multidisciplinary committees and is an affiliate with Northeastern University School of Pharmacys COOP program.
She also serves as a mentor in Brigham and Womens formal mentoring program and continues to teach and mentor pharmacy residents, students, technicians and pharmacists in her daily activities. Her research focuses on the use of sterile products in the inpatient setting, new technological advances in healthcare, and formulary additions of new approved agents.

Chad S. Stashek, PharmD, MS is the Medication Safety and Technology Manager at Brigham and Womens Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts. He received his Doctor of Pharmacy and Master of Science in Health System Pharmacy Administration from the University of Wisconsin. He completed an ASHP-accredited Health System Pharmacy Administration Residency at the University of Wisconsin Hospital and Clinics.
Dr. Stashek has been actively involved in professional pharmacy organizations at both state and national levels. Within the ASHP Pharmacy Practice Managers section he serves as a member of the Pharmacy Business Management SAG and within the ASHP Pharmacy Informatics & Technology section he serves as a member of the Pharmacy Automation Operations SAG. He has served on the University HealthSystem Consortium Financial Performance Committee and serves on the Medication Use Informatics & Technology Committee. Chad's professional interests include medication safety, automation & information technology, pharmacy administration, leadership, and systems analysis.

- Describe how an institution has improved resource allocation by shifting responsibilities to pharmacy technicians that have traditionally been the responsibilities of pharmacists and pharmacy managers.
- Develop a departmental action plan for technician-driven, quality assurance testing of compounded sterile products (CSPs).
- Evaluate ways to advance pharmacy technician roles through the use of IV room technologies, quality assurance testing, and reporting responsibilities.
- Identify how the ASHP Pharmacy Practice Module Initiative (PPMI) promotes pharmacy technician career advancement through increased involvement with technology.
