CO-SPEAKER
:
Mr. Jim Burger, Assistant VP Facilities, Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center
Description
Cincinnati Children’s Hospital received ASHE’s 2012 Excellence in Facilities Management Award in recognition of its patient and employee safety program, Daily Operations Brief. The program, which expanded its operations to seven days a week and 365 days a year, addresses unexpected outcomes that have occurred over the previous 24 hours, predicts issues or events that may adversely affect operations, and encourages discussion to mitigate potential issues. In this session, representatives of the Cincinnati Children’s facilities department will present the process and procedures the organization developed to enhance communication of issues and concerns related to hospital safety and flow. This session will enable you to:
Identify elements of a successful hospital safety program that could be applied to your facility’s safety initiatives.
Prepare documentation and response plans to address safety issues and concerns in real time.
Explain how a hospital’s facility management professionals are key members of the operations team.
Identify the workings of the Daily Operations Brief, which is a daily conference call. On this call, up to twenty departments report the experiences over the previous day and predict possible failures with mitigation strategies for the following day.
