Randall Snelling is the Chief Physical Environment Officer at DNV Healthcare, Inc. He is responsible for oversight of DNV Healthcare Physical Environment Specialists and survey activities.
Randy has more than twenty five years of experience in various roles related to environmental, safety, equipment, and utilities management.
He has had an integral role for the development of the NIAHO℠ Accreditation Program under deeming authority from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) and is responsible for Physical Environment standards, interpretive guidelines, and comprehensive survey process.

Description
This session provides a thorough overview of the DNV Healthcare NIAHO® physical environment (PE) survey process, including survey team composition, surveyor focus and purpose, and methods unique to the DNV NIAHO survey. Also discussed will be how the requirements of ISO 9001-2009: Quality Management Systems and other third-party requirements (e.g., NFPA 101, OSHA, CDC) are integrated into the DNV survey process. This session will enable you to:
Describe the DNV Physical Environment survey process, including methods that are unique to it.
Discuss the corrective action plan and appeals process actions expected of DNV client hospitals as a result of NIAHO survey findings.
Outline how integration of ISO 9001-2008 requirements affects development of a hospital’s system management procedures.
Assess the appropriateness of DNV corrective action plans and challenge survey findings.
