Chris Hilgemann is the Director of Facilities Project Development & Technology and has over thirty-one years of leadership, project development, project management, facilities engineering, planning, design, and construction experience. He has been at Mayo Clinic in Arizona for the past twenty-two years and Mayo Clinic in Minnesota for seven years. Chris has managed and/or led teams to develop over $900 million in large scale and minor capital projects for clinic, hospital, research, education, proton beam therapy, data center, utilities infrastructure, Central Plants, and office space as well as strategic campus development projects. Chris has a BS in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Wisconsin and has been a member of ASHE for nine years and CASHE for five years. At the end of 2011, he completed three years as member at large on the CASHE Board of Directors.
Developed the $382 million Proton Beam Therapy project as the AZ Facilities Project Director from inception through approval. Developed the $182 million AZ project facilities scope, cost estimate, and schedule and collaborated with Rochester's Project Director to coordinate the proton equipment selection, sales agreement, and equipment to building interface (EBI) process. This project includes identical proton vault buildings in Arizona and Minnesota as well as all associated utilities and central plant infrastructure. Developed and implemented the Arizona project delivery team structure.
Managed project development of the facilities scope to the space program, contractor cost development, facilities and equipment cost estimates, and design/construction schedules for the $130 million Phoenix Campus Advancement Project (PCAP) from inception through approval. Effectively handed off to Facilities Project Management for clear understandings of the scope, estimates, and schedule.
AZ Facilities Project Director for Enterprise Facilities collaboration and coordination, Proton equipment installation planning/hand-off, AZ/Enterprise leadership and communications, and EBI design completion in developing the Proton Beam Therapy project. Presented project internally and publically.
