Tom Davis is the Director of Facilities and Security, for the University of Colorado Hospital. Tom manages a team of 170 personnel who handle Emergency Management, Safety, Security, Electronic Security and Engineering. He has a Masters degree in Organizational Management and Leadership.
Tom has been with the UCH for four years where he started out as the safety officer and raised to director in a very short amount of time due to his leadership ability. He has twenty seven years of experience in leadership positions in various roles throughout the Navy and in health care. Some of his highlights that speak of his success are being awarded a Presidential Citations for Meritorious Service from the University of Colorado Medical staff, numerous Working Together awards from the CEO at UCH, along with various leadership awards while he served in the Navy to include, the Meritorious Service Medal, Sailor of the Year twice and various other awards. He retired after twenty three years in the Navy as the Commanding Officer of the Naval Reserve Center, Cheyenne.

If a violent incident were to happen in your health care facility, how prepared are you and your employees to respond? On average, two million Americans face workplace violence each year, and health care facilities need to be prepared to protect their vulnerable patients and busy staff. This session will use the University of Colorado Hospital’s response to the tragic theater shootings in Aurora, Colo. as an example, and will guide your preparations to protect employees and patients and successfully respond to incidents. In addition, this session will enable you to:
Detect warning signs of workplace violence in your health care facility.
Develop a proactive response plan for threats of domestic violence, an active shooter, gangs, drug seekers, and labor and delivery family issues.
Educate your employees on the threat of workplace violence and prepare them to quickly and effectively respond to incidents.
Protect employees and patients from violent incidents in the workplace.
