Description
The accountable care organization (ACO), with its flat, per-life-covered payment, demands efficiency from the general hospital, which will serve as the hub for clinics, physicians’ offices, and tertiary facilities. This session will provide an overview of the ACO model and how it affects clinician overflow, the patient experience, required technologies and, ultimately, the health care built environment. This session will enable you to:
Identify the technologies needed to support care in the ACO framework.
Assess the potential effects the technology supporting ACO models will have on design.
Identify the ACO model’s facility types and interconnections.
Explore the potential changes in patient and caregiver interaction resulting from the ACO model.
LEARNER OUTCOMES:
-
Assess potential design impact of the technology supporting ACOs
-
Explore the change in patient and caregiver interaction
-
Identify technologies needed to provide care in the ACO framework
-
Provide overview of the ACO model
