Carolyn Core, President and CEO, Core Healthcare Consulting, LLC

Ms. Core has served on the Executive team at Anne Arundel Health System, Inc. for 28 years. Ms. Core previously worked for Civista Health System, Inc., where she was responsible for executive project management for a major new building expansion project and strategic and operations management for information systems and non-clinical support areas. She has served Anne Arundel Health System in many roles during her tenure; Sr. Vice President of Strategic Planning, and Vice President of Corporate Services. She previously served in various radiology and administrative capacities, including Director of Radiological Sciences, Chief Executive Officer of Anne Arundel Diagnostics/Anne Arundel MRI, and Director of Special Projects. She was promoted to Vice President in October 1992. She served as CIO and Strategic Planner for Information Systems, leading AAMC to be named one of the 100 most wired hospitals for two years; as Executive Director of the Oncology Clinical Initiative; Director of Strategic Planning, and Project Executive for Major Construction Projects. Ms. Core received a diploma in Radiologic Technology from Peninsula General Hospital in 1967, Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration from St. Joseph's College in 1987, and a Master of General Administration Degree from the University of Maryland in 1995. Ms. Core is a member of the Health Information Management System Society, the American Healthcare Radiology Administrators, and a life member of the Maryland Society of Radiologic Technologists. She is certified by the Health Care Information and Management System Society as a Certified Professional in Health Care Information and Management Systems (CPHIMS), and is a member of the American College of Health Care Executives. She has served on a number of community boards, and other community organizations in various capacities, and is listed in the Who's Who of American Women and in Who's Who of Emerging Business Leaders.

Description

As of January 2012, health care projects are required to register under the LEED for Healthcare rating system. The LEED for Healthcare rating system includes additional, healthcare specific, credits that will change the parts of the project reviewed in a certification and thus the planning and design process itself. This presentation will provide a comparison of the Healthcare rating system to previous rating systems using the examples from the Anne Arundel Medical Center (AAMC) projects. This session will enable attendees to:

Understand the LEED for Healthcare rating system.
Asses how LEED for Healthcare would have impacted work at AAMC.
Identify how the LEED for Healthcare rating system will affect planning, design, and construction for future projects.
Identify key differences between other LEED rating systems and the Healthcare rating system.
