Description
The Circular of Information provides valuable reference data on product characteristics and modifications, indications for blood component use, and potential side effects and hazards. Many healthcare organizations have used the Circular to drive better practice and initiate or support patient blood management programs. We will briefly discuss significant changes in the 2013 Circular, then discuss ways hospitals disseminate the Circular and use it to improve the appropriateness of blood component use, better identify and treat adverse reactions and reduce costs by fostering evidence-based practice.
