Melinda Bryant, MPM, PMP, Managing Director, IT Synergistics, LLC
Description
Implementing a BECS system can be a daunting task. It is a huge undertaking that involves everyone in the organization from recruitment and collection to distribution and accounting. This session will describe the steps necessary for a successful implementation, including the importance of a well-developed and monitored project plan. Topics covered will include redefining operational processes to work with the software, system configuration, SOP development, process validation, system validation, training, hardware issues, implementation (go-live) and branding/marketing the change. Speakers will discuss their experiences; one with moving from a home grown system to a vendor-supplied system and the other on aligning several centers onto the same BECS system and the process for bringing on new centers.
LEARNER OUTCOMES:
-
Describe the components of a BECS validation, including FDA requirements.
-
Discuss how to manage project scope; not reinventing the entire organization when implementing a new BECS.
-
Explain the importance of marketing the change to obtain buy-in and support from all levels of the organization.
-
Explain the importance of performing a gap analysis between current functionality and the new BECS functionality.
