Brian has a unique vantage point on how brands are built, how corporate cultures are created, and what happens as the world goes digital.
In the course of the past 25 years, Brian has worked hands-on with many of the world’s leading brands including, IBM, American Express, Cisco, Coca-Cola, Motorola, Unilever, Nestlé, Kodak, and Yahoo!
Brian began his career in brand management with Procter & Gamble Canada. He then joined the advertising firm Ogilvy & Mather and rose up through the ranks to become President of its Canadian operations.
In 1997, Brian moved to New York and to the worldwide stage. His first assignment was to lead Ogilvy & Mather’s flagship global account, IBM, through its dramatic repositioning as an “e-business.” He later founded and became the first Chairman of Ogilvy’s Global Brand Community, representing the company’s top 20 international clients, and was appointed to the Ogilvy & Mather Executive Committee in 2002.
Today, Brian leads OgilvyOne Worldwide, the interactive marketing and consulting arm of the Ogilvy Group. With more than 4,000 staff in 50 countries, OgilvyOne is at the forefront of the digital revolution. In 2007 and 2009, the Forrester Report ranked Ogilvy as a leading U.S. interactive agency.
Several major innovations have come to life under Brian’s leadership. In February 2006, Neo@Ogilvy, the agency’s full service, global digital media and search capability, was launched and within one year was named as one of the Wall Street Journal’s “Agencies to Watch.” In March 2008, the Ogilvy Digital Lab network with hubs in Singapore, New York, Beijing, London and Sao Paulo was established to create innovative digital experiences that build brands and results.
For over 15 years, Brian has been a Board Member for Goodwill Industries, a not-for-profit organization, for the Toronto, New York and Worldwide Boards. He was appointed to the Board of the Direct Marketing Association in October, 2008.
Born and raised in Montreal, Brian graduated from the McGill University business school. He is married to Christine and has two daughters – Claire (22) and Alison (19). Brian plays hockey every Sunday night, and plays guitar and harmonica in a rock band – aptly named Plan B.
