Business Process Management technology(IPP) and SaaS based solutions are two crucial ingredients in Open Digital Campus. SunGard Higher Education has in the past year put these elements into practice in several development projects and we have gained a tremendous amount of knowledge. Sharing this knowledge with SunGard Higher Education customers will help them to understand how they can benefit from these new technology platforms and be better prepared when evaluating technical solutions for future projects.

We will present use cases of leveraging IPP in SaaS applications to facilitate human workflow and technical integration. We will discuss a process driven design pattern that can be used in both on-premise and off-premise applications.

We will review several completed or on-going SaaS solutions developed for SunGard Higher Education clients where IPP plays a critical role. We will analyze the benefit of hosting IPP from customers' perspective in terms of improved business agility, reduced development cost, reduced maintenance cost and improved SLA. We will examine the critical lessons we learned from these projects and address common architecture challenges in the areas of multi-tenancy support and business logic and user experience customization.
