Description
Want Banner to provide Single Sign-on but don't have Luminis? As the Mid-Tier guide states, it is possible to authenticate SSB and INB against Directory Servers other than the Sun One Directory Server in Luminis. Want to see how we did it? Did you know, it's also possible to configure LDAP authentication for multiple Banner instances such as PROD and TEST? Before implementing Banner 7 (Finance, HR, Student) in 2006, Virginia Commonwealth University already had a university portal and an LDAP from other vendors. We configured our SSB and INB signon to authenticate against our existing Novell eDirectory LDAP and leveraged existing packages to push user LDAP password changes into the Banner Oracle database. We also configured our LDAP to allow authentication for multiple Banner instances such as TEST and PROD. This presentation will cover each step taken in the LDAP and SSB and INB environments. LDAP command files, GUAUPRF values, SSB LDAP values, and simple coding changes will be covered. The majority of the presentation will be concepts and steps to implement. Topics covered are not highly technical and non-technical attendees who want Single-Signon should feel free to steal the ideas and take them back to the geeks.
