Description
With the huge success of eCommerce merchants, such as Amazon and eBay, more and more consumers expect an on-line payment mechanism. Application fees and deposits are no exception. In 2010, SUNY Downstate launched an initiative with CORE Business Technologies to enable applicants to pay application fees and deposits online. Applicants and existing students are authenticated and checked for accounts receivable holds by Downstate and passed to the hosted CORE iPayment application. Tokens passed from Downstate to CORE enable a secure mechanism to transfer PIDM's and enable to start either a credit card or an electronic check payment. After payment completion, CORE updates the Downstate's Banner account receivables(TBRACCD/TBRDEPO) or the Banner miscellaneous payments table(TBRMISD). This session will discuss in detail the implementation of this functionality, including key features such as "back-end" updating of the admissions checklist, how this feature helps the admission offices review and audit their distinct prospects, and how this model may be expanded to other types of transactions.
