Track:
Financial Aid
Program Code: 4269
LEAD PRESENTER / PANEL ORGANIZER / BOF LEADER :
Sara Holman, Director of Financial Aid, Lawrence University
Description
As more and more institutions are going paperless, learn how one school has utilized imaging and self-service to create an almost paperless environment.
After inviting themselves to Xtender implementation training intended for the registrar's office, the financial aid office at Lawrence University was the first on campus go live with imaging. In January of 2006, just weeks after learning about Xtender and days after the University installed it, the financial aid office was live for the 2006-07 academic year. Since then, all financial aid documents have been scanned and indexed; all tracking and award letters have been available in self-service; and all verification documents, special circumstance reviews, and awards have been processed electronically. As other offices have moved to imaging, the financial aid office has worked with them to establish document sharing between applications. Creating an almost paperless environment has not only eliminated file cabinets and paper cuts, but has made the entire financial aid process - from application to audit – faster, easier, and more efficient.
