Description
In the Spring of 2010 Florida Atlantic University (FAU) went live with the Banner Effort Reporting and Labor Redistribution module. Management at FAU considered other third party systems but decided that the Banner module would work best for FAU. As an early implementer FAU has been contacted by other universities to learn how we successfully implemented the system. The purpose of this session will be to share our implementation story of how how FAU implemented the Effort Reporting and Labor Redistribution module. We will first give a brief overview of why FAU selected the Banner Effort Reporting module, along with sharing the steps FAU took to ensure a successful implementation. The presentation will include: benefits of high level support from a well-rounded committee to implement the system, how we approached a write/rewrite of the affected policies, a review of current business practices, a "review and scrub" of your current tables, and the identification of the reports and processes that need to be written and built. The presentation will also discuss how FAU successfully trained 90-95% of all its effort certifiers. The presentation will also discuss the advantages of engaging a dedicated IT person to the project as well as hiring a separate OMB A21 consultant.
