Goucher College has developed an online checklist for incoming students which is used to track the submission of placement tests, required forms, and orientation registration. Goucher has found the checklist to be a useful tool for communicating with incoming students, and preparing them to register online, between the time they deposit and the time they arrive for Fall Orientation.

The foundation of the checklist is built using Scheduled Actions, and then ASP.Net is used to present the status of those scheduled actions to students. We began using the checklist when we were on version 7.12.

The project was developed through a strong collaborative effort between the Academic Dean, the First Year Mentor, and Information Technology.

The college has received benefits through streamlined communications with incoming students, the ability to monitor student engagement throughout the summer, and increased satisfaction with first year courses. Families have benefited from a concise list of required forms, placement tests, and house preference. Students appreciated the real-time feedback after they complete required tasks.

The presentation will describe the decisions that were made by campus departments, the technology that was deployed, and steps used to make online registration possible for our incoming students.
