Using Banner Population Selection and Letter Generation can by very challenging in AR. Many of the fields in Banner AR that are needed and wanted in determining populations and or pulling monetary data for letters (like total balance, amount billed, term balance, total term tuition, etc) are not stored in Banner. These particular data elements must be calculated. You can certainly create a variable for some of these calculations, but then you can use the variable in a population selection. The answer is to create custom views. This session is a joint Functional/Technical presentation on how to determine what calculations to place in a view, how to create the custom AR view and how to use the view in population selection rules and variable rules for letter generation.
