Batch Ratings (HOT) (3805)
Track: Recruiting & Admissions
Program Code: 3805
LEAD PRESENTER / PANEL ORGANIZER / BOF LEADER :
Mathew Koenig, Sr. Associate Director of Admissions, University of Oregon
Description
Batch Ratings are a powerful feature under utilized in application processing. Ratings can be as simple as adding SAT scores together to calculate a total score, or as creative to identify if an applicant file needs to be read twice before an admission decision can be made. By the end of class, you will be able to create a rating and run the job that calculates and posts the rating to the student record. We will also discuss how these ratings can be used in the decision rules (SAADCSN) to make more accurate admission decisions.

At the UO, we are in year two of using Batch Ratings and Batch Decisions. Our implementation has helped reduce our admission processing significantly. One change we made this year has been calculated to save 1 FTE for 8 weeks (based upon 18,000 domestic freshmen applications received for fall 2010). Therefore, freeing up staff to evaluate transcripts rather than be doing data entry.

This hands-on-training is a baseline functionality of Banner 8.4 and intended for experienced functional and technical users. Students for this HOT should also attend the general presentation about Batch Decisions or Batch Ratings.

Attendance at this hands-on session is limited to registrants who use the schedule builder to sign up. Additional seating may be available on a first-come first-served basis.
