The Health Care and Education Affordability Reconciliation Act of 2010 (HCEARA-H.R. 4872) mandated that all federal loans (Stafford, PLUS and Grad PLUS) will be originated through the Federal Direct Loan Program, beginning July 1, 2010. In the past two years, some members of the National Direct Student Loan Coalition have been actively serving as mentors to schools new to Direct Lending in Banner to ensure that their loan processing has gone smoothly. With so many new schools in the DL program, it is crucial that SunGard Higher Education provide an opportunity for both functional and technical staff involved in system processing to ask questions, exchange ideas about best practices and provide ideas for enhancements to DL processing in the Banner system.
