Description
Integration of the Career Services mission needs to be active and visible within your institution. Show your value as a recruitment and retention resource that provides a return on investment. Learn how to develop a framework to partner with your stakeholders, collect data that emphasizes positive success to support the institution and methods to develop sound bites that tell your story and increase your credibility. By engaging faculty, alumni, employers, undergraduate education, institutional advancement, enrollment management, academic advising and students, UMBC’s Career Center has supported recruitment and retention in a multitude of ways that has increased our value both on and off campus. Best practices include customized approaches to infuse career development strategies, and measure results, throughout the academic curriculum such as senior seminars and academic success for lifelong learning courses. An innovative “in-house” website, CareerPath, will also be shared that is used by numerous constituents on campus to support career pathways for students within recruitment and retention. Strategic planning strategies for partnering with stakeholders and collaborating on programs will be shared, as will methods to deliver success stories based on concrete data and assessment information to campus administration and the media.
