Description

Learning Objectives:
  1. Explain why some survivors of cancer during childhood or adulthood develop obesity as a consequence of their cancer treatment.
  2. State the risk for other metabolic abnormalities, such as dyslipidemia and glucose intolerance after cancer therapy
  3. Explain the changes in body composition and adipose tissue distribution which accompany unfavorable metabolic changes in HIV-infected patients treated with certain HAART agents
  4. Discuss treatments which may offset the changes in body composition and adipose tissue distribution which accompany unfavorable metabolic changes in HIV-infected patients treated with certain HAART agents as well as about recently developed HAART without such unfavorable side effects
