Description
Learning Objectives:- Define the various usages of "leptin resistance" and when it is appropriate to use the term.
- Define mechanisms that decrease responsiveness to leptin in states of obesity.
- Define the unique proteins that affect the trafficking of the leptin receptor to the cell surface and alter leptin sensitivity
- Discuss methods by which manipulation of the neonatal and adult environment can increase leptin sensitivity by increasing cell surface expression of the receptor.
