Description
While the Harry Potter books offer a basic view of the possibilities of magic in Harry's universe, fan writers and artists have taken these possibilities and extended them to extremes. For fans, magic can proliferate and permeate the characters' lives or invade and reconstruct their bodies, minds and selves. As Rowling's reading of the possibilities of magic parallels real-world technology, fans have pushed magic into the realm of the extremes of cyborg theory, offering new perspectives on how technology both mechanical and magical forces new understandings of gender, class, power and personhood.
