Travis Prinzi, M.A., Theological Studies, is presently working on his second graduate degree, an M.S. Ed in Secondary English and Special Education. A former "Harry Hater" for religious reasons, Travis has come to love and appreciate the novels without abandoning his faith, finding no incompatibility between Harry and his values. With a graduate degree in theology and graduate work completed in English and Literature, Travis brings a unique and integrated perspective to the Harry Potter series. He runs the Harry Potter weblog, swordofgryffindor.com and the Hog's Head PubCast, both of which are dedicated to a literary study of the novels and the occasional "Defense Against the Harry Haters" lesson.

Description
After the release of Deathly Hallows, JK Rowling spoke about the "religious undertones" of the series, the Christian influence, and the textual evidence of her struggle with faith in regards to "life after death." There is nowhere that these influences are more evident than in book seven, and there are very strong parallels both to the Christ story and to its Narnian retelling in CS Lewis's classic book The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe. This presentation will explore the power of self-sacrifice on behalf of others as presented in the two stories. Mr. Prinzi will analyze, compare, and contrast Aslan's death and resurrection and Harry's "death" and return.
