Eystein Sverre Husebye, Professor, Ph.D., M.D. University of Bergen (1985), Ph.D.University of Bergen (1990) on a thesis on stimulus-secretion coupling in chromaffin cells. Resident at the University Hospitals in Linköping and Uppsala, Sweden between 1991-96. Since -96, assistant professor and from 2000, professor in internal medicine (endocrinology) at University of Bergen and consultant at Haukeland University Hospital in Bergen, Norway. Husebye’s main research interest is autoimmune endocrine diseases, particularly Addison’s disease and autoimmune polyendocrine syndrome type I, and he is currently coordinating a European research network on Addison (www.euradrenal.org). Husebye was visiting professor at The Department of Immunology, The Weizmann Institute of Science, Rehovot, Israel (2002-03), and at The Joslin Diabetes Center and Department of Pathology, Harvard Medical School (2008-09). In 2010 he was appointed Honorary Doctor of Medicine at Uppsala University.
