Robert U. Simpson, Ph.D., is a Professor in the Department of Pharmacology at the University of Michigan School of Medicine, Ann Arbor MI. and President of Cardiavent Inc. a biotech company that focuses on the clinical translation and advancement of vitamin D and cardiovascular research.
After earning his Ph.D. degree from the Department of Pharmacology at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, Dr. Simpson completed his postdoctoral training in the Department of Biochemistry at the University of Wisconsin–Madison.
Dr. Simpson’s research interests include the characterization of the mechanism of action of the vitamin D hormone and the identification of the health importance of the vitamin D endocrine system. His recent interest is the development of his discovery of the cardiovascular actions of vitamin D. He has been author or coauthor for numerous publications, including book chapters and articles in peer-reviewed journals. Dr. Simpson is a member of several professional and scientific organizations, including the American Heart Association, the Endocrine Society, Sigma Xi and the American Association for the Advancement of Science.
