There are times when EA professionals may find themselves in the position of receiving a supervisory referral as well as providing consultation to the referring \supervisor/department head or HR department. In the past, this was often considered a "boundary violation." However, it may also be a viable service that can provide quicker resolution of difficult employee relations issues. Yet, it requires a skill set often beyond the scope of the traditional EA services. This program will discuss the circumstances when one provider may wear two hats; look at the workplace systemically; describe the new paradigm of mediator; and present cases.

Objectives:
• describe the expanding role of EA within the new paradigm;
• describe the workplace from a systems perspective and craft interventions;
• demonstrate new skills... or hone old ones to better serve the client organization.
