Description
The definition of Impaired Professional (IP) continues to challenge workplaces and the EA professionals alike. Both terms, 'impairment' and 'professional' continue to expand in definition, while workplaces are conflicted as to how to best support employees who may be dealing with an impairment. This presentation presents the most current research and information related to best-practice for EA professionals working with impaired professionals (IPs). In addition to recent case studies illustrating various outcomes of how EA professionals worked with IPs and their employer, the panelists will provide suggestions for EA programs who support work organizations employing IPs.
Objectives:
• analyze the latest research and practice guidelines for providing EA services to impaired professionals;
• interpret how the workplace response can support or prevent recovery and return to work;
• identify unique aspects and issues related to EA work with impaired professionals.
