Description
The rapidly expanding field of online therapy has aroused much discussion among clinicians who have been comparing in-person sessions with the online variations ever since psychotherapy and the Internet intersected. However, the practice has its own unique approach, methodology and therapeutic orientation. Above average written communication skills, comfort in a text-only environment, ability to make text-based assessments and facility with text-based rapport building, all add up to online clinical effectiveness. Using case examples, this interactive workshop will identify the unique therapeutic benefits of this modality, and explore the online experience from the perspective of both EA professionals and clients.
Objectives:
• integrate theory and practice of E-Counselling through the presentation of case examples;
• discuss the theoretical framework that informs E-Counselling, and its application in an EA setting;
• apply best clinical practices for this modality of service delivery.
