Description
EAP 's in healthcare can implement effective, groups for staff working with terminally ill patients. Learn about Cumulative Grief Groups to address the needs of managers and employees. Dysfunction occurs when coping, professional identities and communication skills breakdown. The sharing of stories, best practices, and the release of painful emotions is medicine for wounded workers. Work stressors such as ethical or safety concerns can also be identified. Healthy workplace behavior, self care and professionalism are redefined and promoted to mitigate toxic workplace stress. An overview of the theoretical content as well as tips on facilitation and promotion will be provided.
Objectives:
• list tips for self care, and workgroup changes which benefit bereaved employee;
• analyze the factors which put health care providers at risk for complicated grief, burnout, boundary violations addiction and depression;
• describe best practices on how to support employees who work with terminally ill patients on a daily basis.
