Description
Intervention is a necessary and growing aspect of helping addicted employees and their families. As a result of televised "real life" interventions, the term has become a household word. Over time, three distinct intervention styles have emerged; "Family Systemic", Johnson, and "A Relational Intervention Sequence for Engagement (ARISE)". There is early research on the success of treatment following various types of intervention. This session will review all types of intervention, discuss relevant research and how to obtain training and certification to become an interventionist. Ethical implications of interventions will also be reviewed.

Objectives:
• describe the major features of three styles of intervention;
• interview and select an appropriate interventionist.
