IT Staff Armageddon: Bouncing Back after a 33% Staff Reduction
Track : Tuesday, March 15, 2011
Program Code: 520
Date: Tuesday, March 15, 2011
Time: 3:00 PM to 3:30 PM  EST
Location: Grand Salon Section: 6
SPEAKER :
Leonard Niebo, Director of Information and Instructional Technology, Brick Township Public Schools, Brick Township NJ
Description
Budget cuts in New Jersey over the past 12 months have been unprecedented. Every school district in the state has had to do more with less. This session will focus on how the Brick Township Public Schools’ Technology Department was able to sustain an excellent level of support for technology in the district after a total restructuring of the department. Participants will be provided anecdotal evidence and measurable data to show how facing huge cuts in staffing can not only be dealt with, but overcome. We will show that in the face of adversity, a combination of strong leadership and a sense of mission among the remaining staff members can make a department stronger and better. Participants will gain insight on preparing for staffing cuts, keeping morale high in a deflated department, restructuring tips and tools that worked, maintaining support levels with less resources, leveraging vendors and vendor support in times of crisis, and how to not only remain relevant but thrive in the district.
