Description
CoSN’s Participatory Learning in Schools: Leadership and Policy initiative is focused on the challenges and opportunities that digital media in general and Web 2.0 in particular provides for schools. A key assumption of the CoSN Project is that transformation of our schools rather than just minor change is needed. The session will focus on the following questions: As of 2011 what do we know for sure – and what is probable – about the “how, what, when, and where” of learning as we move deeper into the 21st century? What are the key elements in learning which is congruent with contemporary life? Is it a foregone conclusion that schools will adopt the best practices with the use of digital media to provide the learning environments that our kids need? What do school administrators need to do to become leaders in efforts to connect our schools with the current realities of learning? What is the critical policy obstacle that constrains the best we can provide in our schools with digital media? What resources does CoSN provide to assist district level school personnel to meet the challenges and mine the opportunities?
