The new GEO IP authentication model was specifically developed for the Alabama Virtual Library (AVL) to eliminate the need for issuing individual passwords for access to licensed databases. The presentation will include the redesign of the AVL website, which includes this new GEO IP authentication model. Participants will learn what the GEO IP authentication is, how it works, and how it was developed by the Alabama Supercomputer Authority. Participants will also learn how the model can be used to allow state-wide access to licensed database products that limit their user base.
