Description
Prince George's County Public Schools’ (PGCPS) recently rolled out an Enterprise Identity Management System (IdM) which significantly enhanced the district’s ability to meet challenges such as digital identity access management and audit compliance all the while maintaining or improving the overall end-user experience. Triggered by events in Oracle HRMS (for employees) or SchoolMAX (for students) the Identity Management engine automates provisioning/de-provisioning of applicable accounts in the in-house Active Directory Oracle E-Business Suite SchoolMAX and Enterprise Data Warehouse systems; as well as Google Apps (Email) and Skillsoft applications on the cloud. The system also provides for a reduced sign-on (synchronized passwords across all systems) a web-based password reset & policy enforcement framework; and automates the scheduling of the required technology training classes for new employees. This presentation is a case-study on PGCPS’ experience in managing the project & technology; implementation challenges & lessons learned and a high level ROI assessment brought forth by this implementation.
