Description
From June to December 2009 Jes and Co in the USA and Curriculum Corporation in Australia undertook an ambitious project to create an Australian Digital Curriculum Resources Network. The network will link emerging Australian National Curriculum the resources repository of the Australian Le@rning Federation and the USA's Achievement Standards Network (ASN) developed and managed by Jes and Co under the auspices of the National Science Digital Library. This case study demonstrates how an international repository of curriculum and achievement standards can be used by multiple parties for different purposes. For example teachers in Australia will find resources that directly support the Australian Curriculum; publishers could develop and tailor resources to the Australian Curriculum; states sectors or schools will be able to track alignment of local and national curriculum; parents could monitor local curriculum and resources against the Australian Curriculum; parents and students moving between states could track curriculum alignment. Eventually a child's learning pathway could be tracked within the scope of the Australian Curriculum. Policy makers and curriculum developers can examine both standards and resources across countries and across states. Presenters will outline lessons learned from the project and the benefits beginning to emerge.
