Description
"World population is projected to be 9 billion by 2040 with over 85 percent in lesser developed countries. Growing populations, decreasing land area available for food production, and multiple demands on water use pose a significant challenge to agriculture around the world. And yet modern agriculture is under attack from advocacy groups, consumer organizations and, at times, governments. Why is global agriculture being forced to retreat from modern technology and how will society respond to the developing crises in food production? Join us as
we address three questions: How large is the challenge; can agricultural production meet growing demand; and what can agriculture learn from the present that will enable introduction of future technologies?"
Objective1:Understand the nature and magnitude of the challenges facing agriculture in the 21st century.
Objective2:Learn how agriculture will use modern biotechnology and state-of-the-art practices to produce the food and fiber required to feed 9 billion people.
Objective3:
Hear industry thoughts on communicating to consumers.
